We were very lucky to manage three events before Covid 19 stopped play. With all of the horses prepped and ready to run in their first events we now find ourselves in unknown territory with a few of the young horses having some down time in the field to grow and other new projects arriving.
Oasby was a successful event with Ramonda and Codebreaker taking 3rd place in their respective BE100 classes. Codebreaker having won the 5 yo national championships in 2019 ran very confidently in preparation to step up to Novice level at Lincoln. Ramonda who is slightly less experienced gave me a great feel and seems to have come out of his winter training feeling really strong and up for the challenges.
I was lucky to take the ride on Cufflink owned by The Cooke family for both Oasby and Lincoln, he was a pleasure to ride finishing 4th at Oasby and 10th at Lincoln. Despite not knowing him very well it was nice to get onto such a well produced and experienced horse!
Codebreaker ran in his first novice at Lincoln the following weekend – I was wondering if the ground would be suitable as we had had a very wet preparation. Cody was so confident and jumped amazingly and felt so effortless. He picked up a frustrating pole after a spook but finished a great 4th in competitive company.
Ramonda ran extremely successfully to finish 2nd after leading the dressage. Just picking up a time fault on the XC.
