Winter training with the young horses!

We have had a busy couple of weeks with the young horses at home. It is great to see the slow work really paying off as they mature in their attitudes, physically muscling up and getting stronger .

Ruth McMullen’s Oakbank Ultimate Illusion has been out competing in some BD shows, at Solihull, and Vale View… so far he has had some really good scores of 70+ at Novice Gold which were good enough for a few wins! He is super talented and we will keep fitting in some more dressage as part of his preparation for the Eventing season.

There are some lovely new young horses on the yard… Codebreaker by Cody (Cornet Obolensky) a 4yo, who I own jointly with Sue Brankin Frisby – he has been learning the ropes and we have been getting to know each other by going out to some training shows. He has the most amazing attitude and really moves and jumps.

We were very very lucky to secure two beautiful 3 yos at the Brightwells Elite Auction at Addington. De Pleasure (Diacontinus x For Pleasure) who I own jointly with Sue Brankin Frisby, and Heather Sandell. The second being Kraziano (Baltic VDL x Kojack) who is here to be produced for Tommy Kemp. I am hugely grateful to the owners for allowing me to produce them both.

My first time riding De Pleasure (Rocco)

Dick O Malley, 4yo Ramonda, and 4yo Othello have just come back into work after their winter break and have begun their slow hacking and hillwork. They have come in from their holidays looking well and happy thanks to Topspec! Renaissance Man and Priorspark Opposition Free are still on their holidays, and due to come in next week.

Genia owned by Sue Ridley, has returned home to her jockey Millie Ludiman. I have loved producing Genie and will look forward to supporting Millie with her aims next season. They are already enjoying success… Definitely a combination to watch out for in the future!

I have had some hunting on Clifford with the Fernie, and have started running a few teaching clinics which have been good fun.

All systems are go… 🙂
